II. The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Scriptures are to be esteemed high and held with all importance. They are to be obeyed, governed by and revered in the assembly of God’s people. The Word of God is the breath of God; His divine voice, living and powerful. The Holy Scriptures are more than a book of God; they are God’s Book. The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are fully inspired without error in their original manuscripts and cannot be added to nor taken away at any point in time, whether by revelation or traditions of men.

The Holy Scriptures are the infallible rule of faith and practice of God’s covenant people. They manifest the goodness, wisdom and power of God. They reveal the knowledge and the will of God while illuminating the soul for salvation, providing sufficiency for godly living and setting the standard for eternal judgment. The Word of God is the final authority upon which the Church submits to and is governed by.

We believe the Holy Scriptures are to be carefully explored, studied, interpreted and taught according to a grammatical, historical, contextual and literary-expository approach and method; applicable to all, and meaningful for today. Furthermore, all doctrine is to be held or rejected on the basis of a comprehensive presentation existing throughout the Holy Scriptures.

We believe that the use of God's Word in the local church is for teaching sound doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness, that the people of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, to the obedience and praise of His glory.
